Purchase this for you and three friends, pick a date, show up, and print! We will communicate with you about your date after you check out.

Enjoy an evening with new friends and print affirmation cards on our vintage printing press!

In this small group workshop you will print 40 affirmation cards — 20 to keep for yourself and 20 to gift away. We won't tell if you want to keep the whole batch. You will choose from a selection of paper and designs for a combination you love. We will then walk you through the letterpress process from laying out your printig plates to printing your affirmation cards. You'll get to operate Nora, our Vandercook printing press, to press your very own prints!

In letterpress printing, you get to participate in the slow, beautiful rhythm of the press operations, watching your prints come to be with every step. As a workshop participant, you will have 20-30 minutes of press time to print your cards. You will experience first hand the manual nature of letterpress printing and see the beauty (and time-requirement) of this luxury print method.

Included in this workshop:

  • Ticket purchase admits up to four people (you plus three more!)
  • Instruction on how letterpress works as well as a quick history of the process
  • Materials for letterpress printing up to 40 affirmation cards
  • Letterpress plates to lay out your unique design
  • Boxes for your printed cards (one for each set of 20)
  • An apron and rubber gloves to wear during the workshop
  • Light Snacks

Please be sure to arrive on time. As letterpress printing is a manual (and slow) process, we want to ensure everyone has enough time to print their cards.

If you'd like to bring your own wine or beer, please do! We can't provide or serve alcohol, but we do have glasses available for your use.

You will pay the full amount ($420) and we will reach out to confirm your date/time.

LEGAL STUFF

All letterpress workshop participants must sign a liability waiver before using any of our equipment. Each participant will be trained on how to use all of our equipment safely. If you do not abide by the safety rules, you will be liable for any personal injury or damage to the equipment.

No talk about politics at any of our events. We want this to be a safe place for everyone to learn a new skill and leave feeling welcomed. Be kind to everyone; this might be the first time they've ever experienced a vintage printing press!

What should you wear? Our printing presses have lots of moving parts, so please refrain from wearing loose clothing, long necklaces, loose bracelets, or scarves around the equipment. If you have long hair, plan to tie it back as well while printing.

We will have aprons and gloves for those who want them, however when using ink, type, and vintage printing equipment you might get inky! Printing is not generally too messy, but ink can stain your clothes. It's a casual night, feel free to dress accordingly!

Our studio is a working print shop. You may not use any of our equipment without our direct instruction and supervision. We ask that you respect the privacy of our clients as well by not snooping in our drawers and boxes.
